LICINIUS II.   AD 317-324

Obverse: DN VAL LICIN LICINVS NOB C
Laureate, draped bust left, holding mappa in right hand, sceptre and globe in left.

Reverse: IOVI CONSERVATORI CAESS
Jupiter standing left, chlamys across left shoulder, holding Victory on globe and leaning on sceptre, kneeling captive to left, Z in left field.

Exergue: SMANT
Mint City: Antioch. Struck

Reference: RIC VII, 29

Not rare, but not very common. Ancient attempted hole on cheek. Mint mark pushed to the left by obverse legend, evidencing that the engraver did it last and ran out of space. Perhaps evidencing as well that the mintmark was done by someone else.
