Pisidia, Selge AR Trihemiobol. 400-300 BC. Obverse: Facing Gorgon (Gorgoneion) with tongue petruding. Reverse: Head of Athena right in crested Athenian helmet. BMC: 3 var (this type with no astragalos and bust of Athena right is not listed. The weight of 13.2 grains is the same as BMC 3.3, but that is bust left)Rare. Size: 9.5mm, 0.86g. Numismatic Notes: Choice EF! Very well centered and fully struck! Very attractively toned, much more attractive in hand. This is a rare variant with the bust of Athena right, and with the absence of the astragalos. On these types, earlier examples were struck with the Gorgon's tongue petruding, while later examples did not have a tongue showing.
