Description: A nice denarius with a scarcer reverse of historical importance. The building on the reverse of this denarius is not strictly identified however there is little doubt that this is the famous Curia Julia on the Forum Romanum. The construction of the complex was started by Julius Caesar and completed by Augustus and the inauguration took place in 29 BC. The rostra taken in Actium in 31 BC was placed on the front of the building. The curia was the home of the Roman Senate.
