After Umar was removed from Tabaristan post in PYE 125 by Abbasid Caliph, Sa'id was appointed as the governor of Tabaristan for the period of 2 years and three months until Umar was re-appointed in PYE 127. He stayed in Tabaristan working as an agent for Umar. A copper coin with his name dated in AH160 under Abbasid Caliph, al-Mansur shows that he remained as a local ruler in Tabaristan. Silver coins dated only in PYE 126 have his full name (RR) Album 59. Sa'id's coins are very similar to Umar's coinage in style and design.
