Circular silver medal with lateral cylinder and ring for ribbon suspension; the face with the arms of Afghanistan, inscribed above ‘sadaqat’ (Loyalty) in Arabic script صداقت within a circular rayed border; the reverse inscribed ‘Amir Habibullah, the light of the Nation and of Religion’ and dated ‘1320’ (AD 1903/1904) all in Arabic script within a circular rayed border; no ribbon. The medal was instituted in 1903 to reward faithful service soon after his accession to the Afghan throne by Amir Habibullah Khan. A rare early medal. Weighs 13.72 gr. (31.5 mm.)
 
Habibullah Khan was the Emir of Afghanistan from 1901 until 1919. He was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the eldest son of the Emir Abdur Rahman Khan, whom he succeeded by right of primogeniture in October 1901.
