ObverseThe radiant image of the first Shi'a Imam, the 4th Caliph, Ali ibn Abi-Taleb holding a sword in the center. with the legend about him  on top (curve) and the date 1337 on his left.
ReverseIn the center, in Arabic: "in the name of God, compassionate and merciful". CommentsThis dated religious token/medal were given as gift during Iranian new year and on special occasions like weddings and birth of a newly born child as a good omen. It is a common practice among Shia' Muslims however pictorial representation of religious figures are not acceptable among some Sunni Muslims.
