Claudius II, Gothicus (AD 268-270), billion Antoninianus, AD 268-269,
Milan mint, m.m. S on reverse only. Obv. Radiate and cuirassed bust
facing right. Rev. Victory advancing facing right holding wreath and
palm, S in exergue. 4.78g, die axis 12h (Sear 11379 (RCV III); RIC 171).
Some softness in the legends otherwise struck on a ‘dumpy’ flan with
attractively bold and sharp devices, the surfaces with a lovely deep
brown/green patina. Extremely fine.
