Charles II (1660-85), silver Crown, 1677, with no so-called boar's head flaw, the second 7 of date struck over a 6, third laureate and draped bust right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. II. DEI. GRATIA, raised die flaw in the shape of a boar's head before D of legend, rev. crowned cruciform emblematic shields, interlinked Cs in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, seven strings to Irish harp, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB REX. edge inscribed in raised letters, DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. ANNO. REGNI. VICESIMO. NONO..*., weight 29.76g (Bull 399 R2; ESC 54 R; S.3358). Greyish yellow tone, haymarked across surfaces both sides, with the clear flaw over head, an oddity for this particular obverse die only which has been omitted from the latest Bull ESC, but appeared in previous editions, a good fine, scarce die variety.
