PESUDO BYZANTINE.7th Cent AD.AE.Imitative Follis ( 2.81g, 19.7mm, 11h )

Two standing imperial figures, figure on left holding globus cruciger in right hand, figure on right has a moustache and beard who holds long cross in right hand, left hand on waist, both figures wear a crown surmounted by a cross.
Reverse.Uncial letter M, to left downwards NN to right downward O- ΛΕΤ, above cross, exergue unclear mint-signaure.
Very fine, earthen deposit in fields.

Unusal imitative as the obverse is based on a Byzantine issue either after Heraclus and Son ( Sear 810 for a follis , Sear 812 for a 1/2 follis)  or an issue of Constans II and son ( Sear 1010 ). Note that the figures here are transposed with the senior person on the right instead of the left as they are depicted on the Byzantine prototype. The garbled reverse and the size of the flan points to to the issues of Constans II who struck dated issues circa 655/6-658/9 rather than Heraclius who's coin are on larger, heavier flans.
