The Ikshvakus became independent in the eastern Deccan (modern-day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) from the Satavahanas and established their capital at Nagarjunikonda (Vijayapuri) around 227 AD.  Their kingdom was eventually annexed by the Pallavas in the 4th century.
