Paper map (290 mm x 200 mm)

An interesting antique map published in 1777:
'An
Accurate Map of the East Indies', engraved by Thomas Bowen. It
was published in London in Thomas Middleton's A New and Complete System of Geography in 1777.

The
map depicts the Indian subcontinent under the East India Company, showing key places such as Delly (Delhi), Bombay, Calcutta, Goa and Guzerat (Gujarat). Interestingly, it also lists the 'King of Tibet' and labels neighbouring Indo-China as 'India
beyond the Ganges'.

An attractive specimen with wonderful detailing (see close-up below). The thick paper is unframed with light toning.

Rare and CHOICE.
