Mint: Syracuse. Date: Time of Gelon, 485 to 479 BC.

Reference: Sear-914.

Grade: good Fine.  Attractive old collection toning.

Obverse: Quadriga driven right by a male charioteer holding a goad, with a small figure of Nike flying above.

Reverse: Head of Artemis-Arethusa right, with four dolphins around, with  ΣYPAKOΣION between the dolphins and Artemis.

Provenance: I purchased this coin from a local old time collection (MS collection) in the spring of 2015.  MS stopped collecting in 2010 and most of his coins were purchased long before that.  His Green tag for the coin is included (see image below).

MOU status: This type is restricted from import into the USA under their MOU with Italy.  The MS collection provenance is pre-Italian MOU which makes this coin technically of legal status for import into the US, but at this point I cannot provide photographic proof of it's status and without that US customs may or may not allow it into the USA.
