A handsome ancient Roman bronze follis of Emperor Maximianus Herculius, also known as Maximian, (Marcus Aurelius Valerius Maximianus Herculius Augustus.) Struck 30 - 306 AD at the Carthage mint.

 

The obverse with the bust of Maximian, facing right and wearing laurel wreath. The legend reading:

 

IMP[erator] MAXIMIANVS P[ivs] F[elix] AVG[vstvs]

 

"Emperor Maximianus, Dutiful and Happy Augustus"

 

The reverse with Carthage, shown wearing long robes and holding handfuls of fruit.
