Comments These coins were unobtainable until a small hoard emerged recently. They are still rare. The distinguishing features of the "Series 5" coins attributed to Bhanudeva IV are that a conch has replaced the circle in front of the bull, and a chakra has replaced the sun and moon above. The legend sri rama on the reverse was introduced by his predecessor, Narasimha IV.

The Eastern Gangas were the dynasty who built the famous Sun Temple at Konarak. Their coins are the first non-Islamic coins in India to use the decimal, or place-number, system to write the dates.
