Skandagupta introduced a new heavy weight standard of 80 rattis (or 1 suvarna) for his gold coins, so the heavy weight of this coin is one way to tell that it belongs to the later Guptas. The reverse biruda of Kramaditya is also very clear on this coin, a pleasing specimen of a SCARCE type. |
