This coin is frequently described as showing male and female sexual symbols on its two sides, which seems like a fanciful interpretation to me. Others have described it as showing a boat and the Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur. What it actually shows is not known for sure, nor is it definitively known that it was issued by the Adil Shahis, although this is suggested by the fact that it is always found in the heartland of their domains. |
