One of the finest known silver staters minted under the mysterious Persian military commander, Pharnabazos II, circa 380 - 379 BC. Struck in the city of Tarsos, Cilicia, modern day South central Turkey.

The obverse with the "lord of Tarsos", Baaltars seated on a throne, his legs draped in a short cloak, his left hand gripping a tall, lotus-tipped sceptre.

The Aramaic inscription reading:


B'LTRZ


The reverse with Ares, god of war, wearing a fine attic helmet, decorated with a horse-hair crest, a cloak tied around his shoulders.
