Obv: Bust of Pius right
Rev: Eagle standing right with head left and holding a wreath in its beak, standing on the sacred stone of Emisa "[
E]MICHNWN"
The city of Emisa would rise to prominence during the Severan dynasty as Julia Domna was from there and here family was born of a family of priestly rulers of that city. Elagabalus moved the stone from Emisa to Rome and tried to promote the cult of Elagabal there. The romans found it distasteful....
Prior to the Severans, only Pius issued coins there.
