HEROD PHILIP AE.

TJC 107, Hendin 540, 14.8mm, AVF, 14.8mm, 3.47 grams.

Obverse: Portrait of Livia, surrounded by inscription. Reverse: Hand holding three ears of grain.

Minted in year 34 = 30/31 C.E.

Interesting that the reverse of three ears of grain are the same motif as that used in the SAME YEAR by Pontius Pilate. The difference is that these ears are all upright while those of Pilate (still baffling numismatists as to why) have two ears drooping down.

A very RARE coin hard to find in any condition. We offer a quite a decent specimen.
