ROMAN IMPERIAL. Constantine I the Great. AE 20mm, 2.47g. Uncertain mint, possibly Antioch. Struck c. AD 321-323. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine I r.; around, IMP C FL VAL CONSTANTINVS P F AVG; radiate, draped and cuirassed bust to right/ Jupiter standing l., holding Victory on globe and sceptre, eagle with wreath in beak on ground to left, captive seated on ground to r.; to r., X/IIΓ; mintmark illegible. Cf. RIC VII, 34 (Antioch). This coin has had its edges serrated at some later date. This is often considered a feature of repurposing as a weight, but the. present coin is also pierced, suggesting that it might have been worn as jewelry.
