Arabia Felix. Saba’. Mid-fourth-second century BC. AR quarter unit (11mm, 1.27g). Head of Athena r., wearing Attic helmet; on cheek, Sabaean letter Γ / Owl standing r., head facing; to l., olive spray and crescent; to r., South Arabian monogram. Munro-Hay 1.4ii var.; Huth 253. var. This coin is remarkable for having the weight of a Sabaean quarter unit, but the obverse value mark of a half unit. Presumably the coiner mistakenly used the obverse die of a half unit instead of the correct quarter unit die. Interesting and very rare.
