Tetradrachm   11.84 gm.  ;  Year 12 = 66 AD

Obv :  Radiate bust right, wearing aegis.

Rev :  Draped bust of Alexander right, wearing elephant-skin headdress.

 It has been suggested that the reverse bust is actually a
 portrait of Alexander the Great, whose body was buried in Egypt.
 The elephant skin headdress was first used on the coins of
 Ptolemy I as satrap, over 350 years before.
