Obv.: Diademed Turkish male bust facing, right hand on cheat holding one end of mantle tie, dishevelled locks of hair flowing back from the diadem and to each side; mantle, showing five folds, tied in a bow at neckline; legend in transitional Kufic in arcs in the right and left fields bearing the ruler's personal laqab and ism; all within a beaded circle. On a rare early issue of 581 the ruler's ism is abbreviated and his nasab (patronymic) is included.
 
Rev.: Three-line legend in transitional Kufic within a beaded six-pointed star, continuing in short segments below and above, containing the laqabs, ism and nasab of the Ayyubid overlord Salah al-Din Yusuf (Saladin); marginal legend in the six outer angles of the hexagon, beginning at 1 o'clock, containing successive date in words; all within a beaded circle.
