Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1839, first young head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINIA FID: DEF: weight 7.99g (Bentley 400; Marsh 23 R2; S.3852). Toned, some light nicks and marks, short scratch under ear, with underlying brilliance, practically extremely fine, very rare.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Briton's, Defender of the Faith."
