Licinius II was the son of Licinius I and Flavia Julia Constantia, the half sister of Constantine I. Licinius was Constantine’s cousin. Licinius I and Constantine had a difficult relationship and fought over leadership. This came to a head at the Battle of Chrysopolis when Constantine eventually defeated Licinius and put him in captivity. About a year later he put Licinius to death and likely had Licinius II killed.
