Alexander III The Great AR Tetradrachm. Eastern Mint Imitating Tarsos Struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, Circa 323-317 BC. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress. Reverse: BASILEWS ALEZANDROY (N is retrograde) Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; cock (?) and kerykeion (caduceus) to left. References: Price 3050-3052cf Extremely Rare Imitative. Size: 24mm, 16.83g. Professional Numismatic Notes: A unique imitative appearing to imitate the tetradrachm of Tarsos with the victory flying control mark! Here the victory almost appears as a cock standing right. Exceptional condition and strike for these types and actually quite charming style!
