The mint signature shown at the mint of Alexandria is that of ΠΑ (ΦΟΣ) Paphos,Cyprus. No reasonable explanation has been put forward why the mint of Alexandria adopted the Paphian mint signature. The two issues can easily be seperated by their distinct style and by the time Ptolemy XII ruled the crowns of Egypt and Cyprus were seperate.Ptolemy XII ruled solely in Egypt and his brother the island of Cyprus, the latter for the first time under the Ptolemies governed the Cyprus as an indipendent kingdom.
