TITUS AE sestertius. Rome, 80 AD. IMP T CAES VESP AVG P M TR P P P COS VIII, laureate head left. Reverse - ANNONA AVG, Annona standing left, holding statue of Aequitas (who holds scepter and scales); and cornucopiae, modius with grain-ears to her left, elaborate ship's stern with goose-head decoration, base garlanded with wreaths, stern deck piled high with fruit, to her right; no SC in fields. RIC II 86; BMCRE 153; Cohen 15 (with SC.). 35mm, 25.1g.

Although RIC lists it as a prow, the device behind Annona is the stern, or poop of a cargo ship, as is evidenced by the goose-head stern decoration as well as the sides of the sterncastle. RIC 86 notes : "The reverse normally omits S. C.; Cohen 14, 15 quotes with SC, probably in error." I have not seen any examples of this coin with SC, and one wonders where the celator could possibly have squeezed it in anyways
