This is a possible die match to the coin shown on the ZENO - Oriental Coins Database website shown here: http://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=24268&cat=4271 .

This coin is a close approximation to the Byzantine prototype and per CNG Electronic Auction #108, Lot #333 was likely to have been struck by one of the Turkish tribes in Asia Minor. This coin has some minor encrustation on the reverse and a very nice contrasting Levantine patination. An interesting and rare addition to your Byzantine or Islamic collection.
