When I first offered a coin of Vijayasena with this fabric in 2007, the so-called "Bombay fabric" coins were relatively recent discoveries from hoards found in Bombay and Ahmedabad, and only coins of Damasena were known and recognized. Since then, Fishman has published the type in his book (including the coin I had offered) but the type remains very rare. The coins are of lighter weight and do not carry dates or the blundered Greek legends on the obverse, while the reverse Brahmi legends are frequently blundered. This coin has an almost full, good reverse legend with Vijayasena's name very clear. A prize for the advanced collector. |
