This coin was struck in Kora under the auspices of the Nawab of Awadh, Shuja-ud-Daula. This was before Awadh ceded Kora to Shah Alam in AH 1178. Shuja-ud-Daula was the Grand Vazir of the Mughal empire and was the power behind the installation of Ali Gauhar (Shah Alam) on the throne.
The type is almost never seen with more than two digits (11) of the AH date ... very rare to find the full AH date present on the coin. The date is unlisted in KM. A SUPERB example.
From the collection of Alan DeShazo, the noted numismatist and author of several papers on Islamic coins.
