This type is normally attributed to Thasos, but from what I have been told these coins are not normally found on the  Island of Thasos, but rather on the mainland opposite the Island.  They  may be a local  tribal coinage of the the mainland.

Denomination : Silver drachm. Mint : Thasos (?)

Date : ca. 500 BC.

Size : 14.9 x 17.1 mm. Weight : 3.11 grams

Reference : SNG Cop. 1016. Sear-1358.

Grade : VF with a good strike and nicely centred for the issue. A minor amount of porosity on the reverse.

Obverse : Naked Satyr carrying a struggling nymph.

Reverse : Quadripart square.
