Severus Alexander. AD 222 to 235.
Denomination : Bronze sestertius. Mint : Rome.
Date : issue of AD 231
Reference : Sear-8013
Size : 27.2 x 30.5 mm Weight : 20.85 grams.
Grade : VF with good smooth metal and a dark brown patination. The coin is very attractive like this but I do not believe the patination is natural.
Obverse : Head of Severus Alexander right, with IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG around.
Reverse : Annona standing forward with head left, holding a cornucopiae, and holding two ears of corn over a modius from which extend more stocks of grain, with PROVIDENTIA AVG around and S C in the fields.
