Denomination : Silver denarius.  Mint : Rome.

Date : issue of AD 225

Reference : Sear-7873

Size : 18.3 x 20.5 mm.   Weight : 2.29 grams.

Grade : VF/Fine trace rough

Obverse : Head of Severus Alexander right, with IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG around.   There is a very distinct doubling of the face.

Reverse : With Jupiter seated left holding sceptre and a small figure of Victory, with IOVI VLTORI around.

This is a fairly thin than, and the metal was not thick enough to fill both the obverse and reverse dies as the coin was struck, resulting in some parts of the reverse design missing where they are directly opposit the deepest parts of the obverse design.  This is most noticable where Zeus' right arm is nearly completely missing.
