Denomination : Bronze uncia.  Date : ca. 280 BC.

Mint : Rome.

Reference : Thurlow-Vecchi #6.  Syd. 13.  Cr 14/6.  Sear 12.

Size : 28.6 x 31.1 mm in diameter and 13.0 mm thick.  Weight : 33.2 grams.

Grade : VF with a mid green patina.  The hole beside the reverse pellet is a nature flan flaw due to air trapped in the mold when this was cast (most aes grave have similar types of flaws).

Obverse : Knucklebone with a pellet.

Reverse : a large pellet in the centre.

These are crudely cast coins, and this specimen is a reasonably nice example of the issue. The single pellet means this coin is 1/12 of an As, and thus an uncia.
