Ptolemy III, 246-221 BC.

Denomination : AE 35.

Reference : Sear Greek - 7817.

Size : 34.2 x 34.5 mm. Weight : 32.68 grams.

Grade : XF for wear, with very slightly roughness on the obverse, but heavier corroded areas on the reverse.  Mid-brown patination, darker than the image suggests.

Obverse : Head of Zeus right.

Reverse : Eagle standing left with wings folded, on a cornucopiae in the left field, with a Greek letter between the eagle's legs, and PTOLEMAIOY BASILEWS around.  Both the cornucopiae and the Greek letter between the eagle's legs, are in corroded areas and are indistinct.

While this coin has some surface problems, especially on the reverse, the portrait of Zeus is oustanding.
