Material : light brown sandstone, ground into an axe head shape.

Size : 39.1 x 31.1 x 16.2 mm.

Age : Neolithic ca. 3,000 to 2,000 BC

Origin : Morroco.

Condition : intact, very slightly weathered.

These small stone axe heads were probably mounted in wood handles and used for a variety of jobs such as as an adze in wood working, a small hoe in agriculture, and possibly as weapons although they are a little small for that job. Similar axes are found across North Africa but this example came from a group found in Morroco.
