Denomination : Silver tetradrachm.   Mint : Tyre.

Date : ca. 306 to 283 BC.

Reference : Hersh 41 (obverse XV), Newell 27 (XXIII/65).

Size : 23.8 x 24.6 mm. Weight : 17.15 grams.

Grade : VF but the obverse die was slightly worn.

Obverse : Head of Herakles right, wearing the lion's skin.

Reverse : Zeus seated left, holding a sceptre and eagle, with DHMHTRIOU to the right (the last two letters are off the flan), with a MPR monogram in a circle below his hand, with a club below the circle.

While a lot of Alexander style tetradrachms were struck during this period, most of them were in the name of Alexander and it is rare to fine one struck in the name of Demetrios Poliorketes.
