Pontius Pilate was the Roman Procurator of Tiberius who presided over the trial of Christ.

Denomination : AE 16 probably a Prutah

Date : AD 31 to 32

Reference : Sear Greek Imperial - 5623.

Size : 13.8 x 15.6 mm. Weight : 1.94 grams.

Grade : VF for wear, but parts off the flan and some weakness.  But the date is clear.

Obverse :  Lituus (astrologers staff) with TIBERIOU KAICAROC around but only the first half of the inscription is on the flan.

Reverse : The date mark LIZ  in a wreath.  This date mark stands for year-17 of Tiberius, which is AD 30 to 31.
