Pontius Pilate was the Roman Procurator of Tiberius who presided over the trial of Christ.

Denomination : AE 16 probably a Prutah

Date : AD 31 to 32  (LIH = year 18 of Tiberius)

Reference : Sear Greek Imperial - 5624.

Size : 15.5 x 17.2 mm.  Weight : 2.05 grams.

Grade : VF with a clear date and fairly nice for these.  Very dark green patina with sandy high lights. 

Obverse :  Lituus (astrologers staff) with TIBERIOU KAICAROC around but only the first half of the inscription is on the flan.

Reverse : The date mark LIH in a wreath.  This date mark stands for year-18 of Tiberius, which is AD 31 to 32.
