The Kingdom of Maitrakas of Valabhi was a Gupta successor state that was part of the Savrashtra in the West.

Denomination : Billon drachm.  Date : ca. AD 470 to 800 (probably later in the series)

Size : 10.6 x 11.6 mm. Weight : 1.92 grams. (this is a fairly small coin).

Reference : MA 4897 variety.

Grade VG with a crude incomplete strike (pretty normal for these).

Obverse : Bust of a King right.

Reverse : Trident with local style inscription around.  The inscription is a variation on RAJNO MAHAKSHARAPA PARAMADITYA BHAKTA MAHASAMANTA SRI SARVVA BHATTARAKASA, naming Bhattaraka who was the founder of the Kingdom.
