Ancient Coins - Hungary. Karl Robert, AD 1308 to 1342. Silver Denar or Parvus.
zoom view

Denomination : Silver Parvus.  Huszar calls this a parvus, but I have seen it refered to as a denar as well.  At 0.42 grams it is about half the weight of some deniers of this period, so I believe Parvus is correct.

Size : 12.5 x 13.2 mm.  Weight : 0.48 grams.

Grade : VF but part of the inscriptions off the flan.

Reference : Huszar 472.  Rethy-Probszt 41.

Obverse : Crown with M REGIS KARVLI around (the parts of the inscription are off the flan).

Reverse : Angel kneeling left with hands raised, with a K to the left.

There are no examples of this type in Coin archives, and I suspect it is somewhat scarce.
