This type is struck in the style of Herbert I who ruled Maine from AD 1015 to 1036, but the rather crude style is typical of coins struck for almost 200 years after he died.  Some aspects of how the inscriptions are drawn on this one make me think it closer to the time of Herbert I than many examples.

Denomination : Silver Denier.  Mint : Maine.

Size : 18.8 x 20.1 mm.  Weight : 1.13 grams.

Reference : Roberts-4122 variety

Grade : about Fine.

Obverse : Monogram Herbert I, with COMES CENOMANIS around.

Reverse : Short cross with two pellets, A and W in the angles, with SISINUM DEI VIVI around.  The Alp[ha and Omega are very crudely drawn.
