Denomination : Silver tetrobol. Reference : Sear Greek - 2496 variety

Size : 12.4 x 13.3 mm. Weight : 1.78 grams. Grade : gVF

Obverse : Head of the nymph Histiaia right.

Reverse : The nymph Histiaia seated right on the stern of a galley, holding a naval standard, with ISTIAIEWN around starting at 5 o'clock.  There is a small wing on the side of the galley.

Most of these coins were struck in the 3rd century BC at Histiaia, but just before 168 BC in Macedonia, Perseus also struck them to finance his fight against the Romans.  Examples significantly under 2.0 grams may be from Perseus' issue, but this is not certain.
