Denomination : Silver Penny.  Mint and Moneyer : Canterbury, Willem.

Date : Class C2, issued between AD 1163 and 1167.

Reference
: Spink-1339.

Size : 19.3 x 20.3 mm.  Weight : 1.35 grams.

Grade : VF with a fairly good strike for a Tealby type. Some porosity.

Obverse : 3/4 facing bust of Henry II, with HENRI REX A around.  While the inscription is difficult to read, once you know where the letters are you can read parts of all of them.

Reverse : Large cross potent with small potent in the angles, with PILLEM ON C around (some of the letters are not struck up, but you can read PILLE- -N C.

The P in the reverse inscription is an early form of W, so Pillem is an early form of Willem.  On many tealby pennies you cannot read the mint or moneyer at all.
