The Crusader Kingdom in Cyprus was established by Guy of Lusignan when he bought the Island from the Temples in 1192 after losing his crown as King of Jerusalem a short time earlier.  His decendants ruled the island for over 300 years, during which time they always maintained their claim to be the Kings of Jerusalem.

Denomination : Silver Gros.  Mint : Cyprus.

Size : 23.9 x 26.2 mm.  Weight : 4.54 grams.

Grade : gVF on a slightly oval flan.

Obverse : High seated forward, holding a sceptre and orb, with a small cross over a C to his left, with hVGVE REI DE around.

Reverse: Cross of Jerusalem, IERVSALM E D ChIPR around.
