This coin imitates the silver dirhems of the Ayyubid caliph al-Zahir Ghazi of Aleppo, but is dated to after his death.

Denomination : Silver dirhem.

Mint and Date : This coin is marked for the Halab (Aleppo) mint although it only imitates and it is not certain at which crusader mint it was struck.  The date on the coin is for AH 614 (AD 1217) one year after al-Zahir Ghazi died.  The date is probably the year the coin was struck, but this dating to after his death is what defines this as a Crusader imitation rather than a official Abbasid coin.

Reference  : CCS page 133, #1.  The prototype coin was Album - 836.

Size : 18.9 x 20.2 mm.  Weight : 2.91 grams.

Grade : VF with a few weak letters.

Obverse and Reverse : Arabic inscriptions naming caliph al-Zahir Ghazi .
