Denomination : AE 3 (1/2 centenionalis).  Mint : Lugdunum.

Date : issue of AD 348 to 350.

Size : 17.2 X 18.2 mm   Weight : 2.41 grams.
 
Reference : RIC VIII, page 813, #96.  This exact specimen was used as the illustration of this type and can be seen on plate #4, coin #96.

Grade :  gVF with a glossy dark green patination.

Obverse : Head of Constans right, with DN CONSTANS P F AVG around.

Reverse : Constans in military dress, standing left on a galley, holding a phoenix on globe and standared with a Chi-Rho, with Vicotry siting in the stern of the galley steering the gallery, with FEL TEMP REPARATIO around, and PLG below (only the tops of the letters of the mint mark are on the flan).

It is not very often that one comes across one of the RIC plate coins.
