zoom view

Denomination : Bronze Huo-pu spade valued at 25 wu shu.

Date : Wang Mang ruled between the two Han Dynasties from AD 7 to 23.  This type was introduced during his 5th coinage reform of AD 14 ,and was probably issued until AD 23 as these are the most common of all spade money.

Reference : Schjoth-148.  Hartill 9.20.

Size : 22.0 x 57.3 mm.  Weight : 15.51 grams.

Grade : gVF with a very dark green patina.  There are some light scratches from cleaing between the lines of the characters but you have to look close to see them.

Obverse : "Huo-Pu".

Reverse : blank with a white paper with a single chinese character glued on.  This seem to be an old collectors tag of some type.

Genuine examples of this type are becoming difficult to find.   I am not 100% certain I can still replace this in my inventory at this price.
