Provenance : ex. Spink. sale 65 #299 (3/92).

Grade : VF with a good strike.  Full weight for the issue. Attractive old collection toning.

Obverse : CAROLVS in two lines with the AR ligate.

Reverse : METALLO writen in a circle around a odd shaped cross.  Some of the letters are in very strange medieval letter forms, making this inscription difficult to understand, but it does say METALLO for the mint of Melle.
